Is Going Solar That Good of an Idea?

Given how the crisis of global warming exists solely because of our burning of fossil fuels for power, don’t you think it’s a good idea for us to start using greener means of producing power? There have been multiple developments in renewable energy over the past decade alone. Once you get into it, you really start to wonder why green energy isn’t as popular as it ought to be. Some conspiracy theorists among us would even say that there are big companies that don’t allow these developments to go mainstream.

We can’t give credence to these interesting conspiracies, but we can discuss some possible drawbacks of solar energy against the benefits, to better understand why most people aren’t using these solutions. The first reason is pretty obvious – solar panels are very expensive. Over a decade ago, they were straight-up not affordable at all but now that they are, they’re still pretty pricey. But then again, a lot of people have the money to spend on luxury so this probably isn’t the biggest reason anymore.

Solar panels also take up a lot of space and not everyone’s home has enough room for enough solar panels to effectively reduce their electricity bills. If you have a big home with ample space on the roof, which you don’t use all that often, then you can check out to see what solutions you have available to you.

We feel like the biggest reason why people aren’t using solar panels is that they lack the awareness. Space can be an issue but unless people start discussing solar energy actively, we aren’t going to see that many people use it. What do you think? Is solar energy worth it?
